You must identify the trap patterns you're on for each level and execute some small tricks to get through the game as fast as possible fulfilling the requirements for each category with your best inputs at the right moments.


Illbleed is a comedy horror survival game that has you the player play as one of five playable characters, (Eriko, Kevin, Michel, Randy and Jorg) through Michael Reynold's Virtual Horror Land, "ILLBLEED" for the chance of winning $100,000,000 if you can make it through alive. But first Eriko needs to go through every horror attraction at the park rescuing her friends who had gone missing for a few days after it opened. And it's her job to not just save her friends, but find out who's behind the creation of this park.

**Introduction**

Regional differences aren't that significant in the end for Illbleed. There are some small differences that will affect your run, but generally speaking you don't need to worry about what version of the game will give you the best possible time period. Though when it comes to the tyoe of game that you're playing whether it be a digital copy or a physical copy things will tend to be a bit different depending on your Dreamcast or PC.

This guide will breifly outline for you what you need to know about the regional differences that are in Illbleed that are run important and details about the platform that you should always be aware of before starting. It's reccomended that if you're playing a genuine physical copy that you get what's within your budget as a common USA release of the Dreamcast can cost about $500 depending on the seller, and though you can get a Japanese for cheaper, you're going to need a different version of the Dreamcast that isn't the US release in order to play the game. Or you can purchase yourself a copy of Cheats N' Codes Volume 1 or some other disc that allows you to play the game through there. No codes are neccessary in most cases.

**Differences Between Platform Versions**

Platform versions only affect two things. Final time with the in game timer and loading time. A genuine physical copy is the most accurate, though not without its downsides of not having savestates to help you practice and same goes for burned GD Roms which are cheaper and easier to come by, though not as friendly to your Dreamcast.

**Dreamcast:** There's currently no known differences between console versions whether it's PAL, USA or Japanese versions of the console. But Illbleed's game timer is known to be off by roughly one or two seconds each playthrough on a genuinely phsyical copy. For burned copies the time difference can be as large as 4 to 12 seconds roughly. So it's reccomended that you play a genuine copy for the best and most accurate expereince you can.

**Emulator:** Currently there's not many emulators well known or very used for Dreamcast speedrunning. In fact, it's still a pretty new concept. Though it is reccomended that you play an emulated copy on the most ReDream Dev version as it will have the game not just run smoother, but give you more options for practice. Stable version of Redream will play Illbleed but it'll make audio less comfortable and be more prone to random lag spikes depending on your PC. Though times with the in game timer can be as off by one to two minutes, and though the dev build of Redream can be more prone to crashing in some select circumstances, it doesn't crash very often.

**Regional Differences Preformance Wise**

Each version of the game only has small differences that won't impact your run's speed, so generally if you're playing an emulated version, play whatever is more comfortable with you. And if you're playing physical just try to remember your version's important differences as best as you can.

**USA:** Has a fully English UI and item selection screen, and doesn't have widescreen support normally on ReDream.

**Japanese:** Has a mostly English UI and Japanese item selection screen, and has widescreen support on ReDream which helps it run better to some degree.

**Taiwaneese:** It has a mostly English UI and a mostly Chinese item sleection screen. Doesn't have widescreen support on ReDream but it has less characters to display when it comes to written things on the menu in most cases.

**Illbleed Final (Russian):"** Currently there isn't any known major differences for physical or emulated versions, letalone passcodes in certain areas as of this moment. But what is known is that it has a fully Russian UI and all text is russian in menus.

**Passcode Regional Differences**

In the game there's going to only be one code that will matter to your regular runs whether it's NG+ or a New Game Run regardless of it being good or bad ending in the Woodpuppets Stage where you need to put in a passcode.

**USA:** 9663
**Japanese/Taiwanese:** 1564

Note: There are more differences in passcodes in Killer Department Store, though they're not important to speedrunning the game whatsoever. Though, the passcodes that is currently known for Killer Department Store are as follows:
